Established as the capital of unified Viet Nam in 1802, Hué was not only the political but also the cultural and religious centre under the Nguyen dynasty until 1945. The Perfume River winds its way through the Capital City, the Imperial City, the Forbidden Purple City and the Inner City, giving this unique feudal capital a setting of great natural beauty.


Itinerary: Hue, Perfume River, Thien Mu Pagoda, mausoleum, Imperial Citadel, Hue.

HUE - Phong Nha Caves (B, L)

 

In the morning, you will be picked up from your hotel in Hue. Enjoy your wonderful day, you will take the boat trip on the romantic Perfume River, visit the seven-storey Thien Mu pagoda, then drive to visit the elaborate and enchanting tomb of emperors Khai Dinh and Tu Duc – the fourth emperor of the Nguyen dynasty. The King Tu Duc constructed his tomb when he was still on the throne in 1848.

 

In the afternoon, after learning about Vietnamese religion and culture, you continue your journey to discover the Imperial Citadel, which covers an area of 52 km2.

 

Late afternoon will find you in the Dong Ba market, the biggest and most significant market in Hue in particular and Central Viet Nam in general. Here, you can find traditional local products that are on sale along with varieties of goods, from the conical hats, toothpicks to luxurious jewelries. After this visit you return to your hotel.
